Welcome to Chicago! Getting around town is a challenge in the big city, even for us locals. Luckily our city gives people lots of options.
Given that our festivities are going to be downtown, cabs may be the easiest form of transportation. A cab ride from either airport into the city (depending on the time of day) could cost anywhere between $30.00 to $60.00. Another option is to take a limousine into the city. The limos offer a flat rate no matter what the traffic conditions. Those rates range around $60.00 one way. Another choice would be to take the train into the city. Please check out our CTA (Chicago Transit Authority) link if you are interested in that option. However, the train, while an inexpensive option, would have many logistical challenges. Please email us if you are still interested in the train.
If you do choose to drive, understand that parking downtown is expensive, especially during a holiday weekend. It will be even more expensive during this particular holiday weekend due to some great events around town. We have seen most overnight parking garages for around $30.00 per day. Street parking downtown will be a challenge. If that doesn't scare you, if you choose to do some sight seeing and want to park your car in a garage for an hour, the rates can range between $12.00 to $25.00 per hour. Drive at your own risk!
In our opinion, cabs might be the most efficient way to get around town. From the hotels to the church, a cab may cost between $5.00 and $10.00. From the church to the reception, a cab may cost around $5.00.
