Innovate!Europe Events FormInnovate!Europe Events Widget

SDAC Inc. provided:

  • XHTML/CSS programming
  • Custom PHP programming
  • Custom XML programming
  • Custom Javasctipt programming
  • Quickbase database

technologies used:

XHTML, CSS, PHP, XML, Javascript, Quickbase

front end:

The client needed a clean looking registration form along with a custom widget which would then display a “feed” of the applicant’s uploaded logos linked to the company web sites that could easily be dropped into any web site by adding a single line of javascript.

back end:

The form data needed to be validated and then stored in a Quickbase database. From there, I then created a custom XML report which I then parsed certain fields to then populate a custom drop in javascript widget. The widget then displayed a list of the ten most recent applicants’ logos linked to the company web sites.

lessons learned/random thoughts:

This was a great project. I learned quite a bit about parsing XML and Quickbase.

SDAC Inc provided:

  • XHTML/CSS programming
  • CMS (WordPress) configuration
  • Custom WordPress theme
  • Custom PHP programming
  • Custom XML programming
  • Linux (RedHat) server setup

technologies used:

XHTML, CSS, WordPress, PHP, XML

user interface:

The user interface for this web site was designed by a graphic designer and then I took the mockups and created the CSS and XHTML to match it.

lessons learned:

I learned quite a bit about XML and processing XML feeds as this web site is basically driven by incoming XML feeds from multiple locations. I also learned quite a bit about working with multiple “team” members from around the world as there were some people from the US and abroad working on this project at the same time. This web site also uses WordPress’s category logic to dynamically create pages on the fly when new categories and posts within categories are created. Overall, this project really let me push WordPress to it’s fullest potential.

random thoughts:

This web site has a projected 100,000 registered users from all over the world and I look forward to seeing WordPress not have any problems with all the activity.
