Project Overview

Divanee Weddings showcases South Asian wedding photos, resources, and vendors.

Front End Description

We worked with the client to provide them a branded look for the parent site (divanee.com and then used that to create a new theme with a similar look and feel. This has a number of custom jQuery functions in place to enhance the front end like.

Back End Description

This site has a number of custom functions including an admin panel for custom options (featured slides, featured vendors, featured weddings, etc). We also used WordPress menus to define all the menus on the page (top, main, footer) to make it as easy as possible for the admins to manage. We also used custom post types/taxonomies for this site as well for events and vendors. For the vendors section – we created a “Add a vendor” form which auto creates Vendors in the admin for the site admin to review. There is also a custom search for vendors as well. We then used BuddyPress to manage the community aspects of the site.

Lessons Learned/Random Thoughts

Working with Custom post types and taxonomies are great when working with more complex sites that need something more than the typical WordPress posts/pages/categories/tags.
