Project Overview

The Toronto Terminals Railway site offers general information about all aspects of the company.

Technologies Used:

Front End Description

I worked with a great designer who handed over the needed PSD files for us to then turn them into the WordPress theme. We used jQuery Cycle for the home page slideshow, jQuery UI accordion for the staff listing page, and SuperFish for the drop down menus. Everything else on the site is pretty straightforward.

Back End Description

I put in some custom admin options so they can easily control the homepage content without having to know or see any of the HTML needed for the layout. We also made sure the menus on the pages (sidebar) were dynamically generated based on the page the user is currently on.

Lessons Learned/Random Thoughts

While training the staff on WordPress before the site launched - I realized just how fast most people can pick up the easy to use WordPress interface. It is very exciting to know someone can go from zero WordPress experience to confident they can manage all their content within one short training session.
