Funeralwise helps educate readers about planning funerals, customs, and everything related to funerals.
Front End Description
This was a refresh of the theme we did back in 2017 in order to make the site leaner, faster, and use AMP on most pages.
Back End Description
We had to migrate away from a lot of the jQuery and bulky Bootstrap code used for the 2017 theme and took time to make things as optimized as possible. The backend has multiple custom options to control items on the home page, custom templates, custom sidebars per page, custom related articles, etc on the pages.
Lessons Learned/Random Thoughts
Working with AMP is a reminder of how much you can get done with a smaller code base. Not all pages can be AMP because of custom functionality/third party code, but the pages that are AMP really score much better with Google Page Speed.
