technologies used:

XHTML, CSS, WordPress, PHP, jQuery

front end:

The client provided the PSD mockups to work with and using some simple javascript along with Jappler Menus – the site was pieced together.

back end:

The site has a public and a private area which I used WordPress for both. There are also a few custom widgets to help make placing content as easy as possible.

lessons learned/random thoughts:

A lot of people do not realize how easy it is to password protect certain sections on WordPress – but it really is rather simple to set up!

SDAC Inc. provided:

  • XHTML/CSS programming
  • WordPress theme creation
  • Custom PHP programming
  • Custom jQuery programming

technologies used:

XHTML, CSS, WordPress, PHP, jQuery

front end:

The client provided the PSD mockups for the site and I provided them with a finished CSS/XHTML/PHP WordPress theme.

back end:

There is a lot going on in the site and I had to make it as easy as possible to control the content for the client as possible. I use Jappler Menus with the WordPress function to create the dynamic menus, jQuery Cycle with a custom admin panel for the home page slide show, jQuery UI Accordion for the accordion on the home page along with custom editable pages in WordPress to manage the content, and more. Basically – everything you see is easily editable by someone that does not know any HTML, PHP, or CSS.

lessons learned/random thoughts:

I love working with jQuery. It is easy to use, manipulate, and works great for adding some slick functionality.

front end:

The client provided me with a Photoshop PSD of how the site should look and I took it from there, created all the templates, added in a jQuery Cycle piece on the home page, jappler Menus for the drop downs, and brought everything together.

back end:

The main goal with this site was to make it as easy for the client to add and manage content as possible. All the content areas, menus, etc are all managed within WordPress and makes for a great, clean, backend.

lessons learned/random thoughts:

I provide ongoing development for this client and it was great to get their content into WordPress.

front end:

I was given a PDF file which contained the front page layout and the menu design and built the site from that. I used my custom built Jappler Menus for the JS/XHTML/CSS and built the menu images and look feel of them based on the client’s design.

back end:

I added a lot of custom logic to control the views of the home and categories pages but other than that the site was very similar to the other site I did for them (Pittsburgh History & Landmarks Foundation

lessons learned/random thoughts:

I had worked with this client before and it was great to work with them again.

lessons learned/random thoughts:

This site was a lot of fun to build.
