This release addresses security issues as well as includes changes to help site owners prepare for a minimum of PHP 5.2.

WordPress 5.1 focuses on performance and site health.

WordPress 5.1 focuses on performance improvements to the block editor as well as adds in a few nice touches to help site administrators focus on security and performance with the addition of a nice set of functions/features.

• PHP Site Health (notification if you are running an out-of-date version of PHP.)
• Fatal Error Protection (say goodbye to the white screen of death if a change is made that triggers a fatal error). WordPress is now able to detect most of these errors and recover from them.
• Plugin PHP Version Notices (When looking for plugins to install, WordPress will now disable any plugins that require an incompatible version of PHP so they will not install.)
• Custom Definable Debug Error Log (define( 'WP_DEBUG_LOG') Now you are able to define your custom error log path vs. the default /wp-content/debug.log.

WordPress 5.0.2 is a maintenance release which fixes 73 bugs.

Things to note

• Improved performance with blocks – 14 bugs were addressed which enhance performance. An additional 31 other block editor bugs were addressed too.
• Bundled theme bug fixes  – 17 bugs were addressed in the bundled themes.
• Internationalization (i8n) script loading issues were also fixed.

WordPress 4.3 is now available for download.

For WordPress Users

This update includes a number of improvements in the admin area (menu customizer, formatting shortcuts, site icons), automatically generated secure passwords for new users, comments turned off by default for pages, and other great changes which will make working with WordPress on all your devices easier and more enjoyable.

For WordPress Developers

There are some noticeable changes with this new version as well including a new page template (singular.php), multisite changes, list table changes, and other customizer enhancements.

WordPress version 4.1.1 is now available to download and contains 21 bug fixes from 4.1. If you have not updated (or are not set up for automatic background updates) – take some time to backup your site and update.
